Wyoming lifts statewide voluntary catch-and-release heat closures Sept. 15

Wyoming’s heat playbook just got a statewide reset, not another single-river note. Game and Fish posted Sept. 15, 2026, from Cheyenne that it had lifted multiple voluntary catch-and-release fishing closures around the state, effective immediately. Staff had kept watching stream conditions after the closures went up; recent cooler weather dropped water temperatures, and the forecast keeps cooling, which the department says takes the immediate stress off trout.

This is a different package from the Green River voluntary C&R lift on Sept. 10 and from the Casper-area North Platte/Deer Creek afternoon-closure lift on Sept. 14. Those were water-specific. Tuesday’s notice is the broader statewide C&R list.
