Grays Harbor salmon flips Sept. 16: East Harbor two-fish, Chinook off

Grays Harbor’s in-bay salmon calendar flips overnight. The Humptulips North Bay fishery — Marine Area 2–2 north of the North Bay line — is open daily through Sept. 15 with a one-salmon daily limit, wild Chinook and wild coho released. Starting Sept. 16, the East Grays Harbor fishery runs through Nov. 30 at a two-salmon daily limit, and all Chinook come off the hook.

WDFW is forecasting 165,215 Grays Harbor basin coho this fall — 71,936 wild and 93,279 hatchery — up from 149,989 in 2025. That is the number managers are hanging the East Harbor two-fish bag on. The popular Humptulips hatchery Chinook river fishery is delayed until Sept. 24 so the hatchery can meet its broodstock goal.

Westport Boat Basin stays coho-only, seven days a week, through Jan. 31, 2027: daily limit six salmon, no more than four adults, Chinook released. Confirm the live WDFW pamphlet and emergency rules before you launch — North Bay ends tonight, East Harbor starts in the morning.
