Bay Area fall kings keep handing out limits on Sept. 10

California Fishing

California’s fall ocean salmon window was still paying on Sept. 10. Landings from San Francisco through Sausalito, Berkeley, and Emeryville posted limit or near-limit Chinook days rather than a one-boat fluke.

Capt. Mike Rescino on Lovely Martha, slipped at Fisherman’s Wharf, wrote that the boat got ambushed and finished with 18 limits — 36 salmon. Out of Berkeley Marina, Capt. James Smith on California Dawn called another epic day: flat calm, a steady pick on big fish with doubles and triples, and full limits by 11:30 a.m. — 18 limits of salmon to 30 pounds. Capt. Sean Hodges on Hog Heaven in Sausalito logged 13 limits and said the September season is better than the July opener.

Fish Emeryville’s afternoon sheet for the same date: Here We Go 5 anglers / 10 kings; Diamond 6 / 7; Scallywag 6 / 12; New Huck Finn 16 anglers / 160 rockfish / 32 lingcod. Confirm current CDFW and NMFS ocean salmon bag, area, and season rules before you keep fish.
