Cape Falcon–Humbug recreational coho retention closed at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 12

Coho are off the recreational ocean bag south of Cape Falcon. An ODFW / NMFS in-season notice posted Sept. 10 closed retention from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. Chinook stay on: all salmon except coho, 24-inch minimum, two-fish bag through Oct. 31.

The non-mark-selective coho fishery had opened Sept. 1 on a 25,700-fish quota. As of Sept. 9, catch was about 17,705 — roughly 69 percent. Managers projected about 98 percent of the quota by the end of Sept. 12, so they shut coho retention rather than run to the Sept. 30 scheduled end date.

This is the closure, not the earlier Sept. 3 quota trim that set that 25,700 ceiling. Confirm the live ODFW ocean salmon page before you leave the dock.
