Nevada fall trout: Baily Pond plants restart, Cave Lake’s 21,169 rainbows

Nevada’s hatchery calendar flipped toward fall. NDOW’s Sept. 1 water sheets say stocking has started again for the fall at Baily Fishing Pond — rainbows on salmon eggs and PowerBait on the bottom or under a bobber, plus small wet flies. Cave Lake’s spring plant is done: 21,169 rainbow trout averaging 8.9 inches, water about 68°F.

Other Sept. 1 notes: Ruby Lake NWR collection ditch fair-to-good for trout to 22 inches (brown, tiger, rainbow from spring plants); Onion Valley very low but still producing around springs; Illipah about 45 percent full at 68°F with active rainbows and some browns. Wilson Sink (Sept. 3) is two feet below the ramp — no launching. Wildhorse remains under a HAB watch as of Aug. 21.

Confirm the live NDOW fishing-and-stocking database before you trailer. City-park community ponds stay three fish a day, no fish or fish parts as bait.
