New Hampshire landlocked salmon and lake trout seasons close Sept. 30

US FishingNew Hampshire

September is the last open-water month for New Hampshire’s salmon lakes. Fish and Game’s season table and the 2026 freshwater digest close landlocked salmon April 1–Sept. 30 (Pleasant Lake, New London, from the fourth Saturday in April). Lake trout are Jan. 1–Sept. 30 on all waters. From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, trolling to take fish is prohibited on lake trout and/or salmon lakes. Taking landlocked salmon Oct. 1–March 31 is prohibited.

Bag on those lakes is two lake trout (15-inch minimum, now a separate limit) plus a two-fish combined limit for other trout and salmon. That split is a 2026 digest change, not last year’s aggregate.

Wild trout streams and wild trout ponds already closed Labor Day. Regular rivers and trout ponds run through Oct. 15. Confirm the water’s designation in the 2026 digest before you keep a salmon after the 30th — there is no grace week.
