Lower Klamath king bite busts open as flows settle near 3,300 cfs

Kenny Priest’s Sept. 10, 2026 Fishing the North Coast filing is a different story from the cool-water, rain-driven upriver push earlier this month. This week, he says salmon fishing on the lower Klamath busted open — a mix of adults plus plenty of jacks.

Flows had peaked above 4,000 cfs on dam releases and rain. By Thursday they were down to about 3,300 cfs, and Priest called the river in perfect shape with fishing looking excellent through the weekend.

Fall rules remain a two-Chinook daily bag, but only one adult 23 inches or longer per day. Possession is six Chinook total, with no more than three adults. When a section’s sub-quota fills, retention flips to jack salmon under 23 inches only. Keep a North Coast salmon report card current and track remaining quotas before you keep fish.
