Lake Success bass slow in the heat at 18% capacity

California Fishing

Lake Success held near 18 percent of capacity last week, and Cope’s Tackle’s Sept. 11, 2026 report rates fishing fair. Hot weather kept a lot of anglers home, and the bass that stayed put were lethargic.

The shop’s best bet is early or late around submerged trees. Senkos, crankbaits, 8-inch Texas-rigged worms, and spinnerbaits all produced some bites. After dark, catfish went on chicken liver, dip bait, and cut anchovies.

Low water plus heat is a short window, not an all-day grind. Confirm current CDFW bag and size rules and check ramp conditions at this storage level before you go.
