Clearwater Region gets more than 6,500 catchable rainbows in September
Idaho’s Clearwater hatchery trucks are on a September rainbow run, separate from the North Fork fall Chinook opener already on this desk. Fish and Game’s Sept. 1, 2026 schedule says staff will plant more than 6,500 catchable 10- to 12-inch rainbows across the region this month.
Highlights: Fenn Pond, 480 fish, with a boardwalk and dock if you are on the Selway and want a simple harvest pond. Soldiers Meadow Reservoir, about 20 miles southeast of Lewiston on Webb Creek, for rainbows and kokanee from a kayak or small boat. Winchester Lake, 3,000 fish, easy access and docks inside Winchester State Park — entrance fee applies, electric motors only.
All dates are tentative on water, weather, and staffing. Confirm the live IDFG Fishing Planner and the 2025–2027 rules booklet before you keep a limit.
