Georgia WRD’s Sept. 4 report: bass and cats in the heat, trout stocked into Labor Day

Georgia DNR’s Wildlife Resources Division posted a Sept. 4, 2026 fishing report that treats late summer as still productive. Bass and catfish carried August in rivers and public fishing areas; the coast mixed trout, redfish, and flounder, with a 6-pound flounder and over-slot reds in the Brunswick/St. Simons notes.

The same week was the last regular trout-stocking push before Labor Day. WRD’s weekly sheet put Taliaferro Creek (Chattooga County) on Sept. 4, with other North Georgia waters in Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Habersham, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, Union, and White counties. Regular stockings run through Labor Day; selected waters can still get a fall plant into October. General-regulation trout waters stay at an eight-fish daily creel.
