Delaware Sept. 3 report: spot and croaker inshore, flounder and sea bass on the Grounds
Delaware’s official Sept. 3, 2026 DNREC fishing report is a rain-interrupted week, not a shutdown. Up to three inches of rain muddied inshore water and kept some boats at the dock. Otherwise it was “business as usual”: lots of spot and croaker inshore, flounder and sea bass from the Old Grounds out toward the Del-Jersey-Land, and tilefish and tuna in the deep.
Port Mahon reef boats mixed blues, croaker, and flounder on live minnows or bucktails with squid or Gulp. Cape Henlopen’s fishing pier was mostly spot and croaker with the rare keeper flounder (one 19-inch fish). Lewes Harbour boats that reached ocean structure still brought flounder and sea bass. Daytime structure around the cape produced small tautog, sheepshead, and triggerfish on sand fleas.
Confirm current DNREC size and bag tables before you keep flounder or sea bass. Later WGMD Talk of Delmarva notes (Sept. 6–10) kept the same pattern — including an 8.1-pound flounder on ocean structure — but the agency sheet is the Sept. 3 desk source.
