DOEE hosts a free Diamond Teague fishing day on Sept. 26

The District’s fisheries staff is putting rods in hands on the Anacostia this month. DOEE’s official flyer sets Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, 9 a.m. to noon, at Diamond Teague Park, 100 Potomac Ave. SE. Staff will provide fishing gear, bait, and instruction. Questions go to Brady Waters at brady.waters@dc.gov. The same Learn to Fish calendar already lists a Sept. 6 Diamond Teague session as completed.

The park’s floating dock is a regular city shore spot for invasive blue catfish and common carp, with occasional largemouth and northern snakehead in the warmer months. Anglers 16 to 64 need a DC fishing license. DOEE still urges catch-and-release and limited consumption because of PCB advisories on District waters; do not return a snakehead.
