Convict Lake double plant puts rainbows to 5 pounds on the south shore

Labor Day week just south of Mammoth got a double plant. A Sierra Wave Sept. 8, 2026 Convict Lake press brief says the resort put in 600 pounds of trophy rainbows averaging about 4.5 pounds the same weekend the State planted. South shore produced fish to 5 pounds; Hangman’s Tree went 4½ and the Inlet 4¼.

What’s working: Tequila Lime PowerBait with a worm, garlic PowerBait, mice tails, nightcrawlers, and green jigs. Early morning has been the better bite.

Ambush at the Lake runs through Nov. 15 — $19, one fish 14 inches or better enters the drawing, $6,000 in resort prizes. Morrison’s Bonus Weekend is Oct. 23–25 with $2,200 cash on tagged fish.
