CDFW brings Fishing in the City to Brannan Island Sept. 26

CDFW’s September 2026 calendar puts a Fishing in the City clinic on the Delta on Saturday, Sept. 26. The Department, in partnership with State Parks, hosts the event at Brannan Island State Recreation Area (Highway 160 south of Rio Vista) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The clinic is for youth ages 5–15 and adults 16 and up. It covers local fish ID, fishing ethics, gear, rigging, knots, baiting, and casting along a bank or pier. Meet at the wooden pier toward the back of the park: continue straight past the boat launch until the parking lot ends, with the pier on the right before a roundabout.

Ages 16 and up need a fishing license. Some poles will be on loan; you can also bring your own. The event is first come, first served. Questions: sabreena.britt@wildlife.ca.gov.
