Alabama inshore slam week: tournament flounder, specks, and a still-open snapper season

Alabama’s first full week of September was an inshore tournament week, not a snapper closer. Great Days Outdoors’ Sept. 4–10 saltwater report walked the Saltwater Fanatics Inshore Championship: Capt. Tanner Deas and Capt. Branden Collier built a slam around redfish, a 21-inch speck, and a 22-inch flounder (4.65 pounds) landed before daylight Sunday. Other teams found flounder from skinny water to 15–40 feet.

Offshore, the prior week’s show had Capt. Kendall Annan calling red snapper steady into September, with amberjack showing ahead of the Sept. 1 season. Outdoor Alabama still lists the 2026 private and state-charter red snapper season open seven days a week from May 22 until the 664,552-pound quota is met or Dec. 31. Report snapper, triggerfish, and amberjack in Snapper Check before you land.
