ADF&G: Kenai coho still handing out morning/evening limits; Quartz Creek closes Sept. 15 upstream

The Kenai is still a morning-and-evening silver river. ADF&G’s Northern Kenai sport fishing report dated Sept. 11, 2026, says coho are producing limits early and late on spoons, spinners, plugs, and marabou jigs under a slip bobber at the usual Soldotna parks — Cunningham, Centennial, Rotary, Gilman River Center, the visitors center, Moose Range Meadows, Swiftwater, Morgan’s Landing, and Soldotna Creek Park. Kasilof coho are fair. Trout are great from The Dunes below Skilak down to Bings Landing on 8–12 mm beads and flesh; the Russian is the same story on smaller beads.

Closures start Tuesday. Quartz Creek is winding down and closes to all sport fishing upstream of the Sterling Highway Bridge Sept. 15–Oct. 31. Hidden Lake closes to all sport fishing Sept. 15–Nov. 30. The two-fish Kenai coho bag under EO 2-SS-1-49-26 still runs through Nov. 30 — that emergency order is already on this desk; this brief is the in-season report plus those Sept. 15 gates.

Saltwater shore anglers are still getting halibut and a pile of dogfish. Confirm the live Soldotna report and current EOs at 907-262-9368 before you keep a silver.
