Kenai River coho stay at two fish through November

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game listed a Northern Kenai restriction on Aug. 27: “Kenai River Drainage Coho Salmon Limit Remains At Two Fish,” expiring Nov. 30, 2026. The Southcentral fishing report names the action as emergency order 2-SS-1-49-26.

From 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, through 11:59 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, the bag and possession limit for coho 16 inches or longer on the Kenai River is two fish. That is the number to fish to — not last year’s booklet, and not a guide’s memory of a September bump.

King salmon on the Kenai remain a separate, closed sport fishery this year. Check the current EO list for Northern Kenai before every trip. Printed regulation summaries do not override an emergency order.
